Each player must have an individual up-to-date Handicap Index based on ratings for men not exceeding 20.0 under the World Handicapping System at the time the team attempts to qualify at the club level. The combined Handicap Index of the team may not exceed 36.0. Team members must belong to the same club and are subject to the MGA Rules and Regulations.
Signup: Signup online during the registration period. Indicate your partner’s name in the notes. If you do not have a partner the committee will attempt to find one for you but cannot guarantee that one will be found. Everyone attempting to qualify must also pay the MGA fee. The team will use the score of the player with the lowest net score on the hole. If a player is “out of the hole” they may pick up to speed up play. In this case the captain will record the score the player was most likely to get or the WHS Max Net Double Bogey for that player on that hole, whichever is less. The team may not use the score of a player who picked up. At least one player on the team must hole out and only a holed-out score may be used. Failure of at least one player on the team to complete the hole will result in disqualification of the team from the tournament.
Winners: The team with the low net will represent the SLMGA at the MGA/Met Life Men’s Fourball Championship. If the winning team cannot attend the scheduled MGA event, the runner up will represent the SLMGA. Tournament information can be found below.

More Info
Club Championship
Teams: None
Flights: 16 seeds in each flight, maximum of 5 flights. Your flight is determined by your GHIN index on the Monday two weeks prior to the Championship. The lowest 16 qualifying scores of the players registered in a flight will make up that Flight for all 5 flights.
Brackets: Brackets will be posted Wednesday before start of play. No substitutions or changes will be made after brackets are posted. If a player withdraws his opponent will receive a bye.
Qualifiers: Since there can be no more than 80 players in this event, 16 per flight, you must be qualified to play in this event by playing in at least one of the 4 qualifying tournaments and your gross score is one of the 16 lowest of the players that registered to play in your flight.
Handicap: Scratch
Rounds: There will be 4 rounds played on consecutive weekends. Round 1 will be on Saturday of weekend 1, round 2 on Sunday of weekend 1, round 3 on Saturday of weekend 2, and the finals on Sunday of weekend 2. If you are unable to play in any of the rounds, do not sign up for the tournament, since it is not fair to those who can compete in all four rounds and may be eliminated by your spot. If you enter the tournament and are unable to play in one of the rounds, you will forfeit any and all winnings for the tournament and may be subject to sanctions.
Seeds: Players will be seeded within their flight based on their best gross score in any of the four qualifiers. Standard match of cards procedure for breaking ties with the following exception. Scores shot from the white tees will be adjusted by adding one stroke if the player has moved from D Flight to a higher flight for the CC. Scores shot from the blue tees will have a reduction by one stroke if the player is in D Flight for the CC. Adjusted white tee scores will be placed last in the tiebreaking procedure and scores from the blue tees will be placed first in the tiebreaking procedure. If less than 16 players have registered within a flight, byes will be assigned to lowest seed and higher. Players winning their match will advance to the next round to meet the winner of the match in their bracket. Tee times for rounds 2, 3 and 4 will be indicated on the match sheet.
Signup: Anyone wishing to compete should sign up during the registration period. Do not register if you have not returned a qualifying score from one of the qualifiers, or if you are unable to play in all four round
Tee time: Tee times and captains for the first round will be assigned by the committee. All players will be notified via email. Tee times for subsequent rounds will be indicated on the match sheet and posted on the website. You are responsible for knowing your tee time after the first round. Any member that changes his tee time (pairing) without the permission of the Tournament Committee will be disqualified from the tournament. The only allowable reason for change will be if that player becomes a single and would have no marker.
Format: Match play. The game is played by holes. The hole is won by the player who holes his ball in the fewest strokes. If the hole is “halved”, then neither player gets credit for the hole. A player may concede his opponent’s next stroke at any time provided the opponent’s ball is at rest. The opponent is considered to have holed out with his next stroke and the ball may be removed by either side. A player may concede a hole at any time prior to the start or conclusion of that hole. A player may concede a match at any time prior to the start or conclusion of that match. A concession may not be declined or withdrawn. The match is won when there are fewer holes left to play than the number of holes an opponent has won. The match is “dormie” when one opponent is as many holes up as there are holes remaining to play.
Scorecard: The captain should pick up the pre-printed official scorecard in the pro shop, if available, otherwise he should prepare your group’s own official scorecard. Choose a member of your group to act as the marker for the group. That person must be a SLMGA member. The marker and will keep score for both matches in the group. After each hold, the marker shall record each competitor’s GROSS score next to his name. The marker should keep a separate line to indicate the standing in the match.
Conclusion: The marker should total the front, back and overall scores for each competitor in the group. For team events, the marker should also total the team’s score. If applicable, subtract each player’s handicap allowance from their gross and record their net score. Competitors are responsible for verifying their gross score on each hold but should also verify their totals. All competitors must sign the scorecard. The marker should sign a second time as marker and date the scorecard. Post your net score on the tournament sheet. The marker is responsible for returning the official scorecard to the SLMGA box once it has been verified by all competitors. All players ESC adjusted gross scores will be entered into the computer by the Tournament Committee. (DO NOT POST YOUR SCORE) For handicap posting purposes, in the event a competitor didn’t hole out or complete the round, the most likely score the competitor would have received on any given hole, or the ESC score for the hole, whichever is less, should be marked on the card and calculated into the total score. Write the winner of the match, as well as the results of the match on the scorecard and the match sheet. For example, if you were up three holes with two to play, write in “3 and 2”. If you won on the last hole, write in “1 up”. The winner’s name should be entered into the appropriate box in the next round on the match sheet. The marker and competitors must sign and date the scorecard. Scorecards must be returned to the SLMGA box at the conclusion of play. The Tournament Committee will post your WHS adjusted gross scores into the computer.
Ties: If the match is tied at the end of the round, the match will be decided by a sudden death playoff as described in the tournament procedures. Sudden death will begin on the same hole the players started at, subject to the starter’s discretion. The first player to win a hole, wins the match. Write the hole number on which the match was won on the scorecard and match sheet. For example, if you win your match on the 2nd hole of sudden death, write “20” on the scorecard and match sheet.
Results: Scores are not official until verified by the tournament committee, however matches are considered final at the conclusion of the match, pending any unresolved disputes. Results will be posted on the website and are deemed official once chits have been issued.
More Info: Refer to Rule 2 in the USGA Rules of Golf.
Awards: The winner in each flight will receive an award at the conclusion of the season.
Rainouts: In the event that the course is closed due to inclement weather, or the tournament committee declares a rainout, the remaining schedule of the event will be affected. If round 1 is rained out, rounds 2, 3 and 4 will also be rescheduled. If round 2 is rained out, rounds 3 and 4 will also be rescheduled. If round 3 is rained out, round 4 will also be rescheduled. If an individual is unable to compete on the rain date, they must concede the match.

Flights: In flight.
Handicap: 95% allowance, applied to gross score, except that your handicap may not exceed the maximum handicap in your flight. For example, if you are playing to a 16 and the flight you are competing in has a maximum handicap of 14, you may not compete with more than a 14.
Qualifier: In order to play in this tournament, you must have qualified by scoring low net in your flight in one of the qualifying tournaments. The flight that you qualify in is based on your handicap and not on the flight you are competing in. For example, if you are competing in a qualifying event in A flight, but your handicap falls in the range of B flight, your net score will be considered for qualification in B flight. Additionally, the flight that you qualify in determines the flight that you will compete in. If you qualified in “C” flight but are playing in “A” flight at the time of the Masters, you will compete in “C” flight in the Masters.

Man In the Box
Teams: Four Man teams. You may request teammates however the committee may deny that request if the four players don’t fall across flights in an equitable manner.
Flights: Across flights.
Handicap: 85% allowance, applied by hole.
Signup: Signup online during the registration period. Indicate the names of requested teammates in the notes
Format: All players play medal on each hole. All players record every stroke until they hole out. All players should hole out on every hole unless they are out of the hole. The team score is counted as follows…
Every hole, one player in that foursome is assigned to be the “Man In the Box”. On the 1st hole, player in position 1 in the pairings will act as the “Man In the Box”. On the 2nd hole, player in position 2 in the pairings will act as the “Man In the Box”. On the 3rd, player in position 3. On the 4th, player in position 4. The cycle then repeats throughout the rest of the round with the exception of holes 9 and 18. On Holes 9 and 18 there is no “Man In the Box”, count the two best balls of the foursome. The position of players will be determined by handicap index from highest index in position 1 to lowest index in position 4.
When playing this format, you will count the ball from the “Man In the Box” as well as the best ball of the other 3 players. So, two balls will be counted on each hole. At least one player on the team and the “Man In the Box” must hole out on every hole where required. On Holes 9 and 18 at least two players must hole out. Failure of the team to hole out as required will result in disqualification of the team from the tournament.
If a player is out of the hole, they may pick up to speed up play. In this case the marker will record the score the competitor was most likely to get or the maximum score of Net Double Bogey for that competitor on that hole, whichever is less. The team may not use the score of a player who picked up. Scorecard: The captain should pick up the pre-printed official scorecard in the pro shop, if available, otherwise he should prepare your group’s own official scorecard. Choose a member of your group to act as the marker for the group.

Masters
Teams: None.
Signup: Prior to signing up, contact the other members of the group to determine which day you plan to play on. Signup online during the registration period.
Format: All players play medal on each hole. All players record every stroke until they hole out. All players must hole out on every hole. You may not pick up in this tournament.

SLMGA CUP
Teams: Two 35 Man Teams.
Flights: Across flights.
Qualifiers: In every qualifying tournament you participate in you will be awarded points based on your finish in the tournament. The more tournaments you participate in, the more points you will be able to accumulate. At the cutoff point toward the end of the season the top 70-point winners will qualify to play in this event. If all qualifiers do not register to play in this event, players that have registered will drop down to fill open positions until 70 players are reached. The points awarded for each qualifying tournament are defined below.
Captains: One captain will be selected to head each team. The two captains will select the players they want on their team from the pool of qualifiers. Captains will also decide who from their team will play in each match. The procedures for both are described below. Indicate in the notes when you register if you would like to be a captain. The two volunteers with the highest point totals will be chosen as captains.
Handicap: In singles, 100% allowance, applied by hole off the low ball in the group. . In teams, 90% allowance, applied by hole off the low ball in the group. Handicaps will be updated after first weekend on the Monday before second weekend.
Rounds: There will be 4 rounds played on consecutive weekends. Round 1 will be on Saturday of weekend 1, round 2 on Sunday of weekend 1, round 3 on Saturday of weekend 2, and round 4 on Sunday of weekend 2. You must be able to play at least one day. If you are unable to one day, don’t register.
Signup: Signup online during the registration period. Since not every qualifier will register to play, sign up even if you haven’t qualified in the top 70. You never know.
Tee time: Tee times will be assigned by the committee. All players will be notified via email. Any member that changes his tee time (pairing) without the permission of the Tournament Committee will be disqualified from the tournament. The only allowable reason for change will be if that player becomes a single and would have no marker.
Format: Each round will be played by 36 players, 18 from each team. The captain will determine who plays in each match. Captains must put each player in at least 2 matches unless they are only able to play in 1. Captains may choose to play in 0 to 4 rounds at their own discretion.
Rounds 1 and 2 are Four Ball match play. The game is played by holes. The hole is won by the team whose best ball is the fewest net strokes. If the hole is “halved”, then neither team gets credit for the hole. There will be a total of 9 points awarded in each round.
Rounds 3 and 4 are Singles Match play. The game is played by holes. The hole is won by the player who holes his ball in the fewer strokes. If the hole is “halved”, then neither player gets credit for the hole. There will be a total of 18 points awarded in each round.
For the tournament there is a total of 54 points awarded. The winning team will be the one that accumulates at least 27½ points. If both teams finish with 27 points all players will split the total prize fund equally. Each captain will receive an additional 25 points in chits on top of what their team wins.
A side may concede his opponent’s next stroke at any time provided the opponent’s ball is at rest. The opponent is considered to have holed out with his next stroke and the ball may be removed by either side. A side may concede a hole at any time prior to the start or conclusion of that hole. A side may concede a match at any time prior to the start or conclusion of that match. A concession may not be declined or withdrawn.
If a side is “out of the hole” the player(s) may pick up to speed up play. In this case the marker will record the score the player(s) was most likely to get or the maximum score of Net Double Bogey for them on that hole, whichever is less. In Four Ball format, in order to win a hole, at least one player on the winning team must hole out or have a putt or the hole conceded. Failure of at least one player to complete the hole will result in loss of hole.
The side that wins the match is awarded 1 point. If there is a tie at the end of the match each side is awarded ½ point. Points won will be added to the team point total.
Scorecard: If available, pick up pre-printed scorecards in the pro shop, otherwise prepare your own scorecard. One competitor will be declared the marker and will keep score for both sides in the match. All players will play off the low handicap in the match. For example, if the low handicap is an 8, a player with a 12 handicap would receive a stroke on the 4 highest rated holes. Place a dot on each hole that a player receives a stroke on (place two dots if they receive two strokes). After each hole, the marker shall record each competitor’s GROSS score next to his name. The marker should keep a separate line to indicate the standing in the match. In Four Ball, an additional line on the scorecard should be marked “Best Ball”. Select the player with the best net score on the hole and write that score on the “Best Ball” line.
Conclusion: The marker shall total the front, back and overall scores for each player as well as the team. Subtract each player’s handicap allowance from their gross score and record their net score. Competitors are responsible for verifying their score on each hole but should also verify their totals. The marker and competitors must sign and date the scorecard. Post the competitor’s net score, as well as the team score (if applicable) on the tournament sheet. Scorecards must be returned to the SLMGA box at the conclusion of play. All players adjusted gross scores using WHS Max Net Double Bogey Method will automatically be posted to the GHIN system at the completion of the Tournament. (DO NOT POST YOUR SCORE)
Ties: Matches ending in a tie will split the point.
Results: Scores are not official until verified by the tournament committee. Results will be posted on the website and are deemed official once chits have been issued.
Prizes: See the Tournament Schedule and Prize Fund for the exact amount awarded to each member of the winning and losing teams. Each captain will also be awarded an additional 25 point voucher.
More Info: See tournament procedures in the official membership book. Refer to rule 31 (applies to all four players) in the USGA Rules of Golf. Rule 31-4 applies except that each player’s score should be recorded on the scorecard.
If an individual is unable to compete on the rain date they must concede the match.
Qualifying Tournament Points
Any Match Play Events – 2500 points to the winner, 1250 points to the loser.
Drafting Procedures
Pool: Each participating player will be ranked according to their point total. The player with the most points is ranked first, the second highest, second, and so on.
Execution: The two captains and the tournament chairman will agree on a mutually convenient time to conduct the draft. The draft will be conducted over a telephone conference call. Prior to the draft the tournament chairman will send to both captains, via email, the names of the available players including their handicaps and point totals. Along with the names, the player’s availability will also be sent. The draft will begin with a coin toss. The captain winning the coin toss chooses first, the losing captain chooses next. They will alternate in this manner until all players have been picked.
Match Determination
Prep: Since the first two rounds are played with two man teams, captains should prepare their teams, or at least get a general idea of their teams, prior to the match determination process. Captains should also gather any other information they may require, such as handicap sheets or other historical information that may help them in their decision process.
Order: The captain that won the coin toss prior to the draft will be the first to offer a team for Round 1. The other captain will be the first to offer a team for Round 2. This order will repeat for the singles competitions in Rounds 3 and 4. Captains will alternate offering players for a match until all matches are determined.
Rounds: Each round in the tournament will be played by 36 players. Rounds 1 and 2 are team events so there will be a total of 9 matches in those rounds. Rounds 3 and 4 are singles events so there will be a total of 18 matches in those rounds. Each captain must make sure that every player on their team competes in at least 3 rounds, unless there is a player who has declared they can only play in two rounds.
Execution: The two captains and the tournament chairman will agree on a mutually convenient time to determine the matches. The match determination will be conducted via a conference call. The captain with the first offer will announce his first team. The other captain will then declare a team that will play against that team. That will determine the first match. For the second match, the opposite captain will offer a team first and the opposing captain will then declare a team that will play against them. This will continue in this manner until all matches have been decided for Rounds 1 and 2. Rounds 3 and 4 will follow the same guidelines, except there are no teams.
The match determination for Rounds 1 and 2 will take place at the same time no later than 1 week prior to the start of Round 1. The match determination for Rounds 3 and 4 will take place at the same time no later than 1 week prior to the start of Round 3.
Once established, these matches cannot be changed on the day of the round. If a player withdraws, on the day of the round, they will forfeit their match.
Conclusion: The tournament chairman will ensure that both captains have abided by the minimum playing time requirements and will notify both captains if a change needs to be made. Once finalized, the tournament chairman will send out tee time notifications as is usually done.

Once established, these matches cannot be changed. If a player withdraws they will forfeit their match.
Conclusion: The tournament chairman will ensure that both captains have abided by the minimum playing time requirements and will notify both captains if a change needs to be made. Once finalized, the tournament chairman will send out tee time notifications as is usually done.

More Info
